I hope you enjoy the selections I have recorded on this album. I have chosen songs written by my grandfather and songs he co-wrote with Lillian Crew Walsh. With Lillian’s breathtaking poems and my grandfather’s music, together they composed some of Cape Breton’s most beautiful and well-known songs.

I can’t thank the people enough who helped record this album. Your valuable contributions and creative assistance is greatly appreciated. Recording this album would have been impossible, without the trusted advise of Terry Kelly, Jay Bedford, and Mike Wadden. I especially want to thank my grandmother, Marion MacKinnon, as she did in the past with my grandfather, stood by my side through out the whole project. I could not have completed it without her support. “Thanks Nanny, I love you.”

My Uncle Charlie MacKinnon Jr. created magic with is tasteful guitar playing and smooth vocals, he too was there from the beginning to end, making sure every lyric was right. Along with Kenny Hutchins, they produced, arranged, and played. Charlie recorded all the vocals tracks on The Phantom Ship of NS, “What a great job Charlie, I owe you.”

My grandfather passed away when I was just a teenager. I knew very little about music at the time. He taught me my first chords on the guitar and I always enjoyed hearing him sing and play. If you mention the name Charlie MacKinnon to anyone from the East Coast, they would agree he had his own style that people enjoyed. Growing up only a few houses away from my grandfather, I was often with him and learned so much. I hope he would be proud.

Thank you,

Bobby
Album Details
Four Generations of musical talent are featured on this album, Charlie MacKinnon, Charlie MacKinnon Jr., myself and I am proud to introduce my eleven-year of daughter Allisha Rozicki. Allisha is featured singing the song, Waters of Iona.

It was also my pleasure to be able to sing with my grandfather and Charlie Jr., Thanks to Malcolm MacMillan, for the original Vocal tracks on the recording “ Between Two Trees”, from the 1982 album “The Songs Of The Misty Island”, and some of today’s technology, I was able to use that track on my rendition of the song.
